It's $1900 over book and I severely doubt the bank will be on board for that.

Everything is priced to come down!

I can't imagine talking them down almost $2k.

what is the asking price?

How long have they had it? If it's not selling you may have some bargaining room. People (dealers at least) always bite on the "I'll buy it today....oh if you meet these conditions".

$9900

20%.
It won't be easy but it's not impossible.

Now I'm looking at a V70R, $5k under book (my buddy bought his for less, they sell low for some reason). It's like an SC but more square with two more driven wheels.

I love the V7oR though I my searches any good examples were over book. I also heard they can be maintenance nightmares especially with that Haldex AWD system.

I heard the opposite about Haldex.

But not getting this one either.

Maybe I'm mistaken about it being a Haldex system, but I have heard that the V70R's AWD can be a cluster-fuck.

What is your budget and zip code?
![]() 11/19/2013 at 12:19 |

$10-$12k, I suppose, and 03777.
![]() 11/19/2013 at 12:24 |

A little above your budget but I'm sure they could come down a bit. 2.5 Turbo, 5-speed manual.

Or how about a RWD V8 wagon.. .that will be perfect for New England winters, and by perfect I mean hoontastic!
![]() 11/19/2013 at 12:32 |

Oooh this one is even better. Only 8k, turbo, 5-speed.
O.k. I'm done now....maybe. ;)

I'm still gonna go to the bank later and see if they'll do it for the Combi. My friend gave me some talking points, and I have at least a 33% down payment.

You could always get a personal loan instead of a car-loan if the bank doesn't want to budge. But your hefty down payment should be fine.

I like talking to you because I know you know what you're talking about.
Should I just go personal loan first or should I still try car loan first?
![]() 11/19/2013 at 12:56 |

Thanks man. Anyway, go for the car-loan first. The bank is really only concerned with the money lent to you over the market value of the car. If worst case scenario they have to repo it they want to be sure they can sell it and get their money back. So if the car is 10 grand but it's only worth 8 but you are putting 3300 down, then you are only borrowing 6700 (still below book). Also most banks will essentially give you a "buyers check" to use as you see fit. You can also shop around online for car-loans, but the local bank sometimes the best way to go for "small" car loans like this.

Do you have to dress up for this stuff?

No but it wouldn't hurt. Nice pair of khakis and a collard shirt would be fine. Just bring proof of income, paychecks and the like.

So I should know by 3pm tomorrow, but it seemed like it went well.
